Well, let me just start by saying that if Jesus showed up on stage to play guitar, he would have a difficult time keeping up with Derek. His playing is like no one else out there and he can play circles around any of the big names out there today. He is one of the few artists I will be able to tell my kids that came from my generation.
The Wiltern is a great venue. It has some old school architecture with modestly priced food and drinks surprisingly, but the security was by far the worst I have ever experienced. The main lady would follow me everywhere I went to make sure I only stayed in these 2 3×3 ft. squares that she said were the only places pictures were aloud…..pretty lame. The second the third song ended, she grabbed my backpack off me and yanked me out of the crowed. Normally thats not that big of a deal…but seriously she needs to calm down. So, I had way less pictures to choose from and not the best angles…but you win some and you loose some.
All in all it was an amazing night with some crazy druggies all around us trying to get me to dance the whole time but I was just weeping at Dereks solos so I didn’t get to the dancing part.
I hope you all enjoy the shots, and I have 3 more concerts I’m shooting this week so gear up for more photos.
